Ely Sinfonia
Saturday 2nd May
Beethoven’s gripping Egmont Overture sets the stage for Ely Sinfonia’s Spring concert, with dramatic force, defiance and noble spirit. Composed for Goethe’s tragedy Egmont, this work is a musical call to arms. Full of lyricism, lively interplay and elegant charm, it’s a joyful showcase of musical unity.
Ely's Eel Day
Saturday 2nd May
Ely's well known and loved Eel Day is back! The eel parade, led naturally by a giant eel, winds its way around town from the Cathedral to Jubilee Gardens where there are stalls, music, games, morris dancing and various other entertainments including competitions such as eel throwing.
Annual Choirs Festival
Saturday 9th May
The Cambridge and Ely Church Music Group welcomes singers to join the combined choirs and Cathedral Choristers, in a service alongside the Cathedral Choir giving thanks for the musical contributions of three composers celebrating anniversaries in 2026.
